"the word-of-mouth survival guide for HOUSTON parents"

All my experiences with the hospital have been going well until today. My wife went in for her 12 wk ultrasound and I was not allowed to be with her. This was our first opportunity to see our first child and the inconsiderate people in the Imaging Department took this away from us. When I politely questioned "Why?" the nurse had the nerve to glare at me and not respond as she took my wife in for the ultrasound. I feel like they cheated us of a very special and meaningful moment that we can't get back. If you want a more caring team for your needs look to a smaller facility as many facets of this behemoth are focused on making money from others joyful times.

Thank you all for your comments on this hospital. I wasn't sure if I should go here or not since it's an hour away from my home. I think I will be better off having my child a little closer.

If you're pregnant and need an OB...Dr. Jason Cooper is the doctor for you. He is the best OB and all of the staff is wonderful!!!

My grandson was born at this so-called hospital. He was immediately taken to NICU where 3 days later he developed a SEVERE diaper rash. The nurses were not changing his diaper when he messed his diaper. The wrong type of milk had his stomach upset at least 8-10 times a day, but the 'policy' only requires the nurses to change the diaper once every 3 hours. After fussing and going up the dumb people ladder, he was finally put under a lamp for the rash to dry out and his formula was changed. If there was no one there to show concern about the diaper rash at 3 days, I don't think that he would have received any treatment at all. If you are planning on having your baby at this so-called hospital, I strongly suggest that you reconsider. The nurses are very incompentent and they need a lot of training. And since there is no place on THEIR website to contact the administrative offices, I think that this is the next best place to warn people about The Woman's Hospital of Houston. Stay away.. far away.. I've given this hospital one star too many in the ratings..

One star is too many! This place has has been jerking my expectant daughter around all week. She was informed by her Ob-GYN that she needed to be induced. He didn't tell her this was to be scheudled as elective. She was told to call the hospital at 5:00 a.m. on Monday. They couldn't get her in...call at noon. No; rescheduled for Wednesday. Call at 5:00 a.m.; no, call at noon. No; rescheduled for Thursday. In the meantime, the expectant father has missed 4 days of work (he's hourly, so he's not getting paid), the older child has had his schedule turned upside-down, and the expectant mother has been on an emotional roller coaster, which has also included not being able to eat until after noon. All for absolutely no good reason. This treatment is inconsiderate, beyond unkind -- it's cruel, and it is inexcusable. If you have a choice of going ANYWHERE else, do so!
