QuoteI love The Witte Museum. There's just something about it for me. I don't know if it's the cool HEB Treehouse or the fact that you can get there by riding the Zoo Eagle Train, but my entire family enjoys the Witte, and we only have one child to date. When you buy a Family Membership ($60, I think), you not only gain free admission to The Witte, but you (and your family) also get free admission to the following museums nationwide: http://www.astc.org/members/pdf/PassPub0508.pdf Not a bad deal, plus you support a local educational hot spot. One last thing...on the second Sunday of every month, The Witte has a Jazz concert from 4 - 7 PM. Enjoy!

Quotethe first time we went to the Witte I wasn't impressed. I walked around saying "this is it?!" but it seems museum planner know what they're doing as my girls and all of their friends love going there. I've come to appreciate that it doesn't have to be huge to work in a kids mind. They have a decent size wildlife, natural habitat section, upstairs is a little beyond the 3 and under crowd with mummies, and Indians. There is one room filled with the gorgeous Fiesta dresses, my 4 yearold loves oohing over them. Outside there is the treehouse to explore, that building has mostly activities geared for older kids and can get very loud. There is one sectioned off room for under 4, with puppet theater, books, play computer. the special exhbits they have had have seemed to be for older children. The dinosaurs scared the girls, and I wouldn't take them to the Body exhibit as it didn't seem age appropriate. But there is enough to do aside from that for a few hours. and a little known fact- the museum is free on Tuesday afternoons.
