Wheaton isn't usually the first place that comes to mind for things to do, but it should. Wheaton Regional Park is a wonderful place hidden amongst the suburban sprawl of Wheaton. There's plenty of slides, and playground equipment for toddlers and up; there's a great train and carousel on the Shorefield Drive side; there's Brookside Gardens and the Botantical Gardens on the Glenallen Avenue side; and there's a Nature Center. The Holiday Lights in the winter season and Butterfly exhibit in the summer are top notch! You can even rent shelters for cookouts. This is a true treasure. Lots for families to do.

This is a huge park and has many smaller components. On the one side, off Shorefield, is a great play area (more appropriate for kids 3+ due to the size of the equipment) and a very affordable mini-train and old carousel. We also love taking our kids to Brookside Gardens, which is a great big beautiful botanical gardens. There are turtles, geese, fish, and ducks for the kids to enjoy, as well as rotating exhibits such as the toy trains at Christmas, butterflies in the summer, and light show in December. The monthly class for toddlers is cute, and the open areas of the Asian gardens are great for running off extra energy!

We love to go for the train rides here! It is always a nice experience. But the park itself is not ideal for more than one child since they can go off in different directions and the layout of the park makes it hard to watch everyone. Plus it is more for big kids so if you have small children it is not ideal

We can spend an entire morning at Wheaton Regional between riding the train, taking a spin on the carousel, and playing on the structures. It is a great place although one mom was recently telling me that she was disappointed that some of the structures had recently fell into disrepair. Hopefully they are fixed now that the weather is nicer! BTW- We always buy a book of 10 tickets to save time each time we go and also a little bit of $

We love this place. The only big drawback is that some of the play structures are for older kids and can be a little difficult if you have a young toddler or are trying to follow your big kid while wearing a Bjorn!
