QuoteFor something a little different, visit the Washington Navy Yard Museum on Capitol Hill. This vast building, which used to be a battleship gun factory, is filled with all kinds great exhibits. There are old navy uniforms, model ships, 16 inch guns and even a replica of a submarine command room, complete with periscope. Cover your ears if any of your kids push the innocent looking button just inside the door in the submarine room! After a long tour of the museum, go outside and tour the USS Barry a retired battleship docked at the Navy Yard. Touring this ship gives your kids a better understanding of what its like to "go to sea".
