QuoteI had so idea until I visited UBS that I was wearing the wrong size bra, which was leading to unnecessary soreness. The woman who helped me made me feel very comfortable, finding a bra that fit and trying on other nursing items. I was able to leave my baby in the little basinet, and liked that the store was so baby-friendly. The one negative, was that while the salesperson I had was very nice, I noticed another salesperson be very pushy to a new mom--telling her that she should buy things she didn't seem to like very much. Mostly my experience was positive, and when I nursed my son, I was even brought a refreshing drink. I've gone back to buy items as my size has changed and appreciated that they stored my info,

QuoteI have had much better experiences with maternity bra consultants at other stores in other cities. I was disappointed with service here and found it strange that they didn't have fitting rooms. Its a cramped space. They do have more variety of nursing bras than most other places in NYC though...so you may have to go there if you don't have any other choice,,,

QuoteI had a wonderful experience at the Upper Breast Side. I had read all the reviews and heard the many horror stories out there so I was prepared for the worst. I went in just before noon on a Tuesday and the shop was pretty busy but I was able to get fitted right away. I had a wonderful fitter (who is also a doula) who after measuring me recommended great bras, a few tops/tanks and a wrap skirt. Many of their tops can be worn both while pregnant and then post partum for nursing. I loved everything shown to me and she wasn't pushy or pressuring me to buy anything that I didn't want to. I can see how a few of the older women in the shop could be abrasive but don't be afraid to speak up for yourself or ask for another fitter. You are going to spend a good amount of money and it should be an enjoyable experience for you! For the bra fittings you are taken to a back room (private and curtained off from the main part of the store where men sit and wait) so this is not the place for modest or shy women b/c you will be topless with other women while trying on different styles. There were no individual dressing rooms that I could see They also have breastfeeding pillows, pumps for sale and rental, swaddling cloths, BPA free bottles and much more. They have lists of lactation consultants and other helpful resources. Most bras were around $40-65 and they store all your information and purchases in their computer system so you can call them up and have anything delivered to you. I almost didn't make the trip to the UBS because of all the negative reviews but I'm so glad that I did b/c it is truly one stop shopping for all your breastfeeding needs!
