I gave birth to both of my girls with the support of Sage Femme Midwifery. The births were planned at the birth center but since I am like my mother I give birth way too fast. Judy did come to my house quikly and her presence during birth is calming and reliable. Her presence outside of labor & delivery is very diferent. Since I was on Medical I could not have a homebirth midwife but Sage Femme takes Medical so I was lucky. This is a great place to learn about pregnancy,childbirth and very supportive for women who need extra special attention.

Do not fool yourself into liking this place. Although the main Midwife has a lot of experience she is not sensitive and does not try to prepare her patients for the reality of giving birth. She uses her intuition which is not very good and may disrupt the labor.

They have a new birthing facility in the mission that was almost complete at the end of 2004. They have the most incredible prenatal care. 2 hour visits are the norm!

i love that there is at least one birth center option in SF
