REI can be a bit hit and miss in terms of getting someone that knows something...but we've had a lot of luck with outdoor gear for our toddler, particularly clothing like fleece vests and summer hats. Their sales make some of the items a great deal...when you add in the CO-Op factor, it's well worth it.

Great for all kinds of outdoor activities - for sports enthusiasts and even those wanting a bit more excitement in their walk around the block.

They only have some kid things, like jogging strollers and very cute baby tevas, but we like to go there. It makes us still feel sporty.

Good place to buy kid's outdoor gear, including ski jackets, thermal underwear, rain jackets, ski bibs in the winter. You can also buy kids' hiking boots, snow boots, Merrells, and rain boots. (Their limited selection but large quantity of rainboots sell out quickly.) You can also find kid-sized backpacks, attachable bike seats, and bike trailers. They have a small selection of kid's bikes and bike horns, too.
