This place (which used to be called LA Play Cafe) has a bunch of cool classes all day long. There are scheduled story times and "messy art" sessions that you can drop in for, plus a small but well-equipped play area (all that is free with a membership, or you can pay a small drop in rate). Plus they offer LOTS of Music Together classes, art classes for older kids (3-5) and a cool-sounding class for newborns called World Citizen Baby. I've been taking one of the Music Together classes and really enjoy it. Only advice I'd give is to wear your lightest clothes in the summer because the classroom is AC-free and you wind up dancing around and working up a bit of a sweat.
