1. Unprofessional and casual young ladies on the phone that can't seem to record, remember or look-up...(not sure which) personal information given a number of times.
2. Charging approx. $5k as a "finder" fee after seeing our information that we JUST provided to them, posted on craigslist. (this of course is disseminated AFTER the non-refundable $150 retainer fee). I don't have a problem with the amounts (no amount is high to ensure finding the best care...or the best of anything for my little girl)...it's the principle.
3. After learning that they were unwilling to negotiate the terms of the contract, my wife and I sent an email telling them that we were no longer going to require their services and requested the deposit back. They responded with a letter asking if we would like to enroll our Nanny (for a fee of course) in their social networking club.
4. I called to remind them of the email I sent, only to be interrupted by what sounded like a young lady I would expect to be buzy doing something more attune to her professional demeanor like chewing gum at the mall...who said very rudely."No you didn't" every time I began to speak. I asked her to confirm whether she was saying that I was lying about my email correspondance or if she was saying that she never received my last email. She only repatedly interrupted me with: "...No you didn't".
My advise is to find Nannys by speaking to other Nanny's and/or craigslist(since they were clearly using it anyway and I thought I could write and screen ads better anyway))/Inquirer Ads, etc..
We phone interviewed 20 or 30 so (and had a few good laughs) but the ones who seemed interesting - we set up in-person interviews at nearby restaurants over lunch or dinner and then if interested further, had a third interview where we asked them to provide us with 3 references and the docs necessary to run a background check (2 forms of photo ID, a utility bill and signed a waiver saying that we could run a background check on them. (google your need to disseminate this law/right to know). Once we found our favorite and refernces checked out (far more important than unreliable background checks) we invited her to the house to see where she would be working and for final interview / review of expectations and rules(make a detailed list, i.e, noone else in the home, where not to go, minimal cleaning, meal prep, etc...) We made an offer to an amazing young lady that we feel very comfortable with and had plenty of previous experience with newborns.
Overall opinon is that PNN is a raquet.

I found them to be nothing more then a resume providing service. They give you their policies, their contracts and their rates. They are very nice - but they don't do much in way of prescreen or negotiate on your behalf. They provide you resumes, you do all the work and they get a significant % of the nanny's pay - which you just negotiated on your own.

Was very disappointed with the referrals I received. Nanny didn't ask one question about my child - just money, directions, hours, etc. Didn't go through with it and still had to pay the finders fee. Boo!

They are changing their staff too much.

The finders fee has to be paid every time they baby sit so for long term help it gets expensive. The people were pretty good candidates and experienced.
