I deliver at PA Hosp. (my son is 2 and my second is on the way) and with my son, as a first time nursing mom, i was a bit torn on the lactation services. I was told to go to the class go to the class, but the last thing i felt like doing after 12 hours of labor was walking down the hall to a class while dealing with all of the "post birth" stuff going on with my body. Just wanted to hold my baby in bed and have the nurses help me in there. They were short at times and had me feed my jaundiced baby formula, which did not start our nursing relationship off on the right foot. After seeing my peditrician a few days later he said he really didn't need the formula anyway...so i was a bit ticked off. That being said, I showed up the day after we went home, in tears (b/c my milk would not come in) begging for help and (I think her name was Linda) really came through for me. She sat with me, told me it was going to be OK, instructed me on what to do, and low and behold my milk came in the next day and by tuesday we had our nursing down pat. I'll thank her if i see her when i'm delivering my next!!!
All in all my delivery there was EXCELLENT! Wouldn't go anywhere else (my doc and her partner doc are fantastic, and i lucked out with all women in my delivery room - a big plus for me!!!) Looking fwd to delivering there again.
