QuoteI went to Dr. Barta and Midtown for several years for GYN services, so they seemed a natural pick for my 1st pregnancy. However, I was really, really disappointed in how we were treated. It was a bad match. I felt like I was not an equal player in my care. Examples: 1. I was diagnosed with placenta previa at 14 wks, but was never told what might happen and what level of concern I should have, so when 3 days after my appointment I hemorrhaged at work I thought I was miscarrying. 2. We had to ask the billing staff multiple times for estimates on what the pregnancy and birth would cost. 3. When I was 7mo pregnant we found out (by accident) that Dr. Barta had scheduled her vacation over my expected due date. 4. When I thought that some of the tests/exams they wanted to do were excessive Dr. Barta told me I should think about "the worst case scenario" when making decisions. 5. No doctor from Midtown showed up for my delivery, so our baby was delivered by a resident (5 min), the attending (another 5 min) and the hospital's on-call doctor (the last 20 minutes) this doc told my husband "she's not pushing right" and spent the 20 minutes checking her pager and trying to get out to go to the next patient. 6. None of my pregnancy medical records made it to the hospital (even though Midtown's policy is to update them at the hospital every week during the last part of the pregnancy) so the hospital want to do IV antibiotics on me and/or our baby which we had to refuse multiple times. All in all we had a healthy baby, but I am still disappointed enough with our experience that I am writing this months after it is all over.

QuoteI should have listened to the reviews of Midtown OBGYN. The front desk, billing dept, admin/support staff are rude, unorganized, and poorly trained. I felt like a part of a cattle call at each visit. They lost my information, were short upon entering the office, and each person I talked to gave me different 'history' of my time with them (which was ended after three, very disappointing visits). At my third appointment the gal had me scheduled for a 'confirmation ultra sound' and congratulated me on a first visit! After I updated her on my history with THEM, I waited an hour to get into the office and another 25 minutes before the doctor came in for a 7 minute meeting with us. They also never verified coverage through my insurance as promised and had me scheduled for a few items that would NOT have been covered. I waited online and was hung up on more times than I can count. It is unfortunate for the doctors there, as mine was pretty great. I did not, however, want to deal with added stress and unnecessary frustration due to incompetent, short, ill-mannered staff during such an amazing period in my life. Midtown should be a lot more aware of who they have representing them as their 'first impression'. I let my doctor know on our last visit the circumstances and why we were changing clinics. She hung her head, apologized, and told me they have been dealing with these complaints for quite some time. I hope they figure it out and find some individuals that know what 'customer service' is but until then, I will take my pregnancy, baby, and money elsewhere.

QuoteThis practice is fantastic. I have had 2 babies and two different physicians have delivered. The second was a c-section by Christee and I cannot say enough postitive things about her. Her focus is on her patients first. At times I have had to wait or change my appointment because someone else is DELIVERING A BABY but I also received the same attention when it was my turn to deliver! What more can you ask for . . .they are OBGYNs and delivering babies is a part of the job. You can't always predict when babies are going to come and so schedules must change. As far as the office staff goes they are professional. Both nurses and physicians have returned calls when necessary. It is a busy office because they are so skilled at what they do and so they have many happy patients. . . otherwise the waiting room would be empty. I highly recommend them if you can get an appointment.

QuoteI've been going to Dr. Cristee Offerdahl at Midtown for 12 years, and feel so blessed to have found such an amazing physician. Her bedside manner is kind, compassionate, caring. Her examinations are thorough and she lets nothing go unchecked. During my twin pregnancy, Cristee was of course my primary but I saw all of the other physicians and thought they were all great. Dr. Zarlengo is fantastic and is head of Obstetrics for Rose Medical Center, and Dr. Jessica Johnson ended up delivering my babies. She was absolutely wonderful to me, my husband and our babies.

QuoteThe staff are awful, most of the doctors are rude and rushed! Additionally, parking is hell- and you have to pay for it! The phones are a nightmare, good luck getting phone calls returned, and the waiting room is a zoo! My advice, find a smaller office that can give personalized attention!
