He was fine with two of my kids who had no issues, but he really missed the mark for one of my boys. He dismissed his small size and growth and dissuaded my seeking advice from an ENT or any type of therapist. Turns out, he needed tonsils and adenoids out-- and my son had a major growth spurt after. Dr still could not concede he missed something. Doc also dismissed my resistance to certain meds and my input on diagnoses.

all of the docs in this practice are listed in Washingtonian's Best, but that's not why we go! A good friend referred us and now I can't imagine life without Dr. McDowell, only a phone call away when needed. His staff is so generous, the practice is very clean, he has office hours every morning from home so you can call with non-emergency questions and concerns. He's "been there and done that", but it NEVER comes off as patronizing, which is a hard line to tow in the medical field with so many people being their own advocates these days.

Absolutely the best. Warm, great communcation. We love her and so does our son. Expensive but worth every penny and then some!

A great old school pediatric group. They do not take any insurance though. They have a lab onsite, weekend office hours and morning call in for each doctor.
