Nice day out, price reasonable, bring your lunch. The playground area is nice, they just opened a great gorilla exhibit. We want to check out the kids' storytime hours next time we go. We got the family membership. Make sure you enjoy an ice cream while just 10ft away from giraffes! Some of the cages seem dated and small...and not sure why the giraffes are next to the lions.....!!

The LA Zoo can be one of the best places to get a breath of "fresh" air. With many of the modern renovations, this is not the zoo we remember with the "Three's Company" facade. The new Gorilla exhibit is a wonderful, and because it is offset from the regular path you feel as if you are partially transfered to real gorilla habitats. With so much changing at the LA Zoo it is no longer a place to feel sad for animals; but rather becoming a true place to learn. Many of the animals are rescued animals and you can see them living a safer life than they could have if left in the wild. I enjoy the zoo, even if it is more for me to get out and really stretch my legs than my child paying attention to the animals.

Maybe it's just when we happen to go, but the LA Zoo seems to always have major attractions closed for what seems like years. It's super tiring to make the trekk to the top of the park to see the best animals, and the shuttle (which is NOT free) doesn't feel that convenient, especially with strollers. Last time we hiked up there only to find the train closed with no signs or notices posted anywhere in the zoo! The kids were almost in tears. We did watch the bird show right next to the closed train and discovered that to be the highlight of our day. The zoo is "ok" in my opinion.

We love going to the zoo. I go with my husband, my mom, or my mother in law. We purchased a membership so we go for the whole year for less than $100. Parking is free and we get three adults in with one membership. I think this is the best bargain for your entertainment dollar. The zoo is so large it seems like we see something new everytime we go.

I love this zoo, it's very hilly so you get a great workout pushing a stroller! Pretty clean, my only complaint is that in the Spring and Summer there tends to be a ton of bees, not great for someone with allergies.
