My husband and I took our almost 2 yr old to Lil Cuts after I set up the appt. I was apprehensive to begin with, not really wanting to have her hair cut but hoping the stylist would be able to tame her mane and give me a better feeling about the whole thing. Unfortunately, the stylist was not who we had expected (told on the phone she had 40 yrs exp) as she was a young woman herself. The service was poor though we were the only clients and she was the only employee there. She seemed like she had better things to do, though she was good enough with our daughter. There was no fanfare at all as far as this being our daughters first haircut, and the stylist really didn't allay my concerns or make me feel any better about a style. We got a certificate for a first haircut but had to ask for a hair clipping which had to be scavenged from the chair following the cut. I believe, had we had the veteran stylist for our daughters first haircut, things possibly could have turned out better. I expected something more than a certificate given with no enthusiasm. It really was a big deal for my husband and I since this was our only daughters first haircut. I also was hoping to be counseled with pictures perhaps on what cuts would look good and what the sylist was confident she could do with our daughters hair. It was very disappointing and my husband was as disappointed in the end as I was. Basically, we felt there should have been more time given on what we wanted, better service, and a lil more enthusiasm would have been nice. A positive from this experience is that we now know what we want from a childs haircutting salon. Oh, and my husband thinks the cut is cute.

Very non-threatening environment especially for that first haircut (whereupon you can have a snapshot taken, lock of hair and certificate). Videos, carousel animals to sit on and a great big play room full of toys while you wait. Stylist is full of tricks to help encourage child to sit still. Only complaint is that we are usually waiting up to 20 minutes past appointment time. Bonus - Santa visits at Christmas for photos and the wait is much less than if you take your kids to the mall!
