QuoteFirst of all, it is very pricey. We were paying about $106 a month for 2 adults and childcare plus a $75 onetime membership fee which was discounted. My daughter, then about a year old, had to go to the infant room because she couldn't rise from the floor (had to pull self up on something) and walk. They had her in this tiny little room locked away from the rest of the toddlers who were running around and having fun. She could see all of this from the clear door. She was never able to get used to a caregiver because they rotate to different areas every 1/2 hour. My daughter has trouble with new faces. I was there observing the toddler room for a while and I noticed that the older kids are allowed to come in whenever they want and take toys away from the younger kids and knock them down with no consequence. There was very little supervision. Unless you have an older child or one who needs very little attention, I wouldn't feel comfortable using the child care facility. We ended up cancelling our membership after a few months. You also have to give 30 day notice of cancelation.

QuoteI would LOVE to join this center, but it is so pricey! I checked it out awhile back, now it is even more xpensive. ALthough the facility is amazing, I just can't see spending that kind of money right now!

QuoteI have joined Lifetime Fitness in Canton twice. The first time we joined we canceled because we arrived at the childcare center to find our 16 month old daughter in distress and nobody helping her. I was appalled at the lack of care and concern in the center for even small children. When my daughter turned 4 and was better able to care for herself we, after the inspection and finding out adults, not children were hired we decided to rejoin. In June when school let out the adults in the center became very few and far between. I returned to the childcare center one day to find 3 girls aged between 20 and 24 running the child care center alone with about 75 kids. Of those three young girls (none with kids of their own) one was running the front desk, the other was in the baby area and the other was left to tend to the remaining children (about 60) on her own. Needless to say children were being left unsupervised. I arrived to find my child crying that she had to use the restroom. In her distress I acknowledged her from my outside the play area while waiting in line to enter. I advised her to ask the worker. The worker unaware of my presense asked another members child to help her in the bathroom. Once in the child care center I arrived in the bathroom to find my daughter and 4 other children in the girls bathroom, one of which was a young boy with no supervision at all. To me this is unacceptable for 3 reasons. 1. other members children should not being asked to care for children 2. a boy should not have been in the restroom with girls. 3. Children drown in toilets and there was no adult anywhere within reason to supervise. Had one of them had an accident in the restroom the person feeling responsible would have been the 7 year old member child asked to care for them. The 7 year old members child later apologized to me for not being able to get the boy out of the stall with my daughter. I explained to the young girl that it was not her fault. She was distressed after having been put in charge of a total of 5 children in the restroom. How inappropriate. After retrieving my child I went to the office of the general manager who showed next to no concern for the incident or their lack of supervision over children. She didn't take the complaint seriously at all which I don't take kindly too. Children are precious and we expect them to be taken care of. One 4 year old boy just died while in a swimming class under the supervision of a lifeguard hired and employed by Lifetime Fitness. I think they show and obvious lack of care for children and I find that unacceptable.

QuoteI enjoy going to Lifetime, as do my kids. We belong to the Commerce location, though. It is an expensive membership, but there is so much to do. And they give little extras other gyms I've joined didn't. For instance, you can forget about packing towels and blow dryers. And they have lotion in the bathrooms. They also have a wringing machine to help get bathing suits dry. One thing they don't have that I wish they did is a walking/jogging track. The child care system is great. A digital security system is in place that assures that only the person who signed them in can take them out. Even if you are there with your spouse, if you signed them in you must sign them out. They will page you if there is any issue requiring your attention with your child. Be aware, though, the paging is done via overhead sound system so if they need to page you and you're in the whirlpool or sauna, you won't hear them.

QuoteLifetime offers great pools, lots of equipment and childcare. It is expensive, but it is open 24 hours and is the best in the area.
