"the word-of-mouth survival guide for SAN FRANCISCO parents"
Review added 7/1/2008

My daughter was born on December 26th, 2004. The idea of a hospital birth was really impersonal and I was adamant on avoiding narcotics exposure to the baby (and needles for me, ew). I worked out a birth plan with my ideal birth experience and it was totally unnecessary- all of my preferences were standard practice at Labor of Love. I knew everyone on staff- no random strangers and "shift" interruptions. I felt that they really valued my status as a mother and did what they could to facilitate a normal birth in a pleasant, low-key environment. I liked this place so much that when I became pregnant again last year there were no other options considered for birth location. Unfortunately I lost that baby- but the staff was extremely considerate of my loss and I really felt treated like a person rather than a room #.

I am receiving my prenatal care at Labor of Love in Lutz. The midwives are very caring and knowledgable. They are focused on letting mom call the shots (whenever appropriate) when it comes to labor, delivery, and prenatal care decisions. If you are looking for a more natural and empowering experience during your pregnancy, this is the place for you!
