Joanne is a gem. Possessing intelligence, clarity, kindness, ease and grace, she was the perfect doula for us. She has invaluable knowledge and experience and transfers it elegantly, thoughtfully, respectfully and in manageable bits. She empowers you to become the parent you want to be. Joanne was a major help with preparations before our little one arrived, on the day of his arrival and in the weeks following. She is supportive, available, kind, and easy to have around. Because of her wonderful handling of boundaries, it was comfortable to have her share in this most intimate time in our lives. She helped us ease all sorts of new struggles, including how to balance eager visitors with our family's need for rest and bonding time. In the hospital Joanne was invaluable as an advocate for our birth plan. An ideal labor coach, Joanne contributed to ours being a peaceful and focused delivery. She allowed my husband to be with me and in the moment, each step of the way. Joanne formed a great working relationship with the hospital staff and our family & friends loved her. Even those who doubted our choice to bring a doula into the hospital are converts! From the moment our son was born, Joanne modeled respect for him as a person in all facets of communication and care. She facilitated a smooth beginning with breastfeeding and gave us a sense of what to expect in days, weeks and months to come. We would be remiss in not mentioning that thanks to her we got some very valuable sleep in those early days!
