 The food from the snack bar is good and pretty cheap. The products are very cute, stylish, and inexpensive. However, sometimes you get what you pay for. The quality isn't always the best.

IKEA Home Furnishings uses their cheapest chairs and stools in their restaurant, and IKEA Emeryville negligence has been caught on camera for two years.
Serious injury or death has not been enough to motivate IKEA to stop allowing their furniture to fall apart when customers sit down. The broken chairs should be checked daily and there is just no other solution as long as such a low-grade of chair or stool is used in a restaurant with commercial traffic all day long. Pregnant women are especially at risk, but nobody should put in harms way.
We have recently contacted IKEA customers world-wide to see if other stores are guilty of this same neglect. We encourage public participation and especially if you are an IKEA customer. Please stay tuned to our news community website:

Often times, you get what you pay for, but I have been pleasantly surprised with a few of my Ikea purchases that have lasted years and still look and work great!

IKEA gets 3 stars for shopping because I always vow that I will NEVER return after a miserable, counterintuitive customer service experience. BUT, I always come back because you can't beat the prices and I have never had a major quality issue (very surprising, actually).
The restaurant is a fun family experience. Super cheap food (for the Bay Area) and they actually have a decent greek salad. Very family friendly with great views of the bay. I'm sort of wary of the meatballs, but the chicken fingers and fries were fine.
