My doctor is JoAnn Samora-Mata. She has THE BEST bedside manner ever. She has been my doctor for 10 years and delivered my daughter in March. I got so used to seeing her and Alice all the time - I miss them terribly!

My doctor is JoAnn Samora-Mata. She has THE BEST bedside manner ever. I am a *bit* difficult, and she soothes me every time I'm around her. If I have any problems (staff, office management, &c), I speak with her about the problem, and it is resolved. She is so calm and professional. Last time I gave birth, I had only been in Houston for a few weeks. I had not even met Dr. Samora-Mata, but I had met her NP, Alice. Loved her. A different doctor delivered my baby, Dr. Gracia Wynn Duncan. She is wonderful, too. I thought about switching doctors because I had never even met Dr. Samora-Mata, but then I decided to give Dr. Samora-Mata a chance. I would never consider switching after experiencing this pregnancy with her. I am a bit sad that I most likely will have another one of her partners or associates deliver my baby. Many of the other doctors in the practice are aloof or arrogant, and they really don't appreciate being questioned. Tough! I am in charge of my medical care. Dr. Samora-Mata completely respects this; however, many of her associates seem to have the attitude that the physician knows what's best. The front desk and office manager are completely unprofessional. While you are waiting in the office waiting room, you will get an earful about their personal lives, witness gum smacking and primping, the works. The office manager will ream them a new one IN FRONT OF PATIENTS, and it is so embarrassing to watch. Despite all this, I must reiterate my complete satisfaction with Dr. Samora-Mata. She is wonderful, and I really hope she is on-call this time to deliver my baby.

I won't single out my former Dr, but I had a miserable experience with this practice group. I started going there when I moved to Houston 6 years ago. I saw the same Dr for 5 years. She never remembered my name or anything about my medical history. I always thought "well, she's more in the business of pregnancy, so when I get pg it will get better." I could not have been more wrong. To make a long story short, when I was experiencing vaginal bleeding 6 weeks in to my pregnancy, they made me wait FIVE DAYS to see a Dr. My husband and I were wrecks! When I went to the office, the support staff was RUDE (as usual) and one nurse even said "Well, it might be a miscarriage, but don't start worrying yet." Yeah right.

I agree with the pp, Dr. Jonna Miller is a great doctor. She was my OB, and was always patient with me. She took the time to explain what I didn't understand and never made me feel like she was in a rush to see her other patients. She always made me feel so comfortable. Unfortunately for me, she wasn't the doc that delivered my baby (I delivered early morning). However, she did come in later that day to see me and see how things are going. She even went to the nursery to check on my little one and give me an update (he was in the NICU.) The other women in the group are fantastic as well.

Dr. Jonna Miller is the absolute best doctor on the face of the planet and I'm not over-exaggerating. She always makes me feel so comfortable and I can talk to her about anything. She took extra special care of me when I gave birth to my daughter and even cried with me when I held my baby for the first time. I only wish Dr. Miller could be my primary care doctor!! Definitely recommend!!!
