This is a first-rate facility for having a baby and when the Women's Pavilion was completed with private rooms for recovery, I was excited to have my third child there (I was there for my second also, but rooms weren't guaranteed to be private). Beautiful facility, wonderful nurses, feels like a hotel. However at the risk of sounding like a "bad" mom, I strongly disagree with their new policy that babies must room-in with their mothers. I asked that my baby be taken to the nursery for a bit so I could rest, and the request was met with obvious disapproval. They brought her back an hour and half later. I believe I should have a choice, as I did with my first two babies, and unfortunately, this forced policy left a bad taste in my mouth for what otherwise would have been a perfect experience.

As for the OB classes, we loved our instructor and the class size was very small at the Barranca site. The maternity tea was way too big and didn't really help us. The labor and post-labor rooms are HUGE and offer terrific views. My husband was thrilled with his man-couch! He can't wait to go back!

LOVED the ocean view in the mother baby floor. The couch for hubby was uncomfortable. Wish they had bathtubs in the labor room however I only was in labor from start to finish for 4 1/2 hours...but had I needed it would have been nice. Unfortunately, every room in L&D was full so the after care was 1 nurse to 8 patients so was slow to get meds and responses :( Found the labor rooms to be quite sterile like...not very homey like the other two hospitals I delivered my other two sons. Food wasn't great but the view sure made up for it! :)

We had a wonderful experience with our childbirth class. Our instructor was awesome and made us very comfortable with the information and the process. We felt very prepared when the time came!

I didn't give them 5 stars only b/c their chairs are horribly uncomfortable... Considering all the pregnant women there I wish they'd have couches or something. Maybe I'm just being a brat. The nurse who taught our Baby Saver class was a fountain of information. It was great to learn hands-on baby CPR.
