Went to the library for multiple Toastmaster sessions and liked the library as such.

This has a great children's area. The only con is it is right near Adult fiction and all kinds of weirdos seep through. Not great, especially compared to several libraries in Pinellas County which all offer a completely separate (and therefore safer) children's alcove. (As a mom, a side fact to note, when you are at this library to be aware it garners more patrons from the street homeless population than many others in the Tampa Bay area simply due to it's proximity to several food banks and the Large Salvation army homeless shelter.)
However, that being said this library, of which I've only been to 4 stories of it. Has 2 stories open to the public and lots of space. It features unique public works of art. And there are computers for those who need to work on a project or use the internet. It has a separate lab for kids. However, I would like to note that the current hours are not listed on this site correctly. I try to go every single Sunday (after 2 p.m. when Parking meters are not checked downtown is best for me). Due to budget constraints Public Library Hours been updated several times in 2008 and as it is 2009, they are:
Sunday: 12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Monday-Thursday: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Very large library with a good selection. Computers can sometimes be taken up by homeless population.

I love this library! It is the main branch, located downtown. it has every thing you could ever need, if you cant find it they can get it. Nice setting next to river.
