"the word-of-mouth survival guide for CONCORD parents"

My twins have loved Gymboree for the past two years. The instructors have been engaging and fun- especially Amy and Sara. I've always found the facility to be clean and safe. They are very generous about scheduling extra classes and welcoming my older child when I bring the twins for playgym.
If your child was bored perhaps they should try a different level of class to find the right fit developmentally. They also have art and music classes that may be a better match. The first class is always free to try so there's no risk.

I just wanted to balance the reviews below bc it doesn't seem like the same place at all. We love Gymboree in Newton and highly recommend it. It is in a brick building but I have always found it clean. All of my kids have loved the activities although I sometimes personally get bored. The teachers are top notch and the service is great.

My daughter and I went here not to long ago. The place is inside of a brick business building, which at first kind off threw us off. At first the outside door was locked, so I walked around to the front which is how I got in. I told the manager what happened and she ignored me and answered the phone. I was standing there, not sure as what to do, when the teacher I think her name was Amy told me to go and take my shoes of and take my sons shoe off. She said she would be startin class in 5 mins, but 15 mins later she had not started. Okay so the class finally began. I started talking to some of the parents and they were nice but the structures that the kids climbed on did not seem clean. There was hair on it and all over the floor. I sat there thinking if I really wanted my child crawling all over this structure when who knows when the last time it got cleaned was. So after about 35 mins of pretty boring activities, such as dropping a bean bag off one of the structures and sliding down the slide into a pretend pond (yes pretend everything is made believe). She then took out this bouncy long airlog I think they called it, and put on a song. Some kids ran over to hit the airlog to this song, however by the middle of the song 90% of the children were gone playing on some of the structures or bouncing on the trampoline. She then put it away and took out the parachute. The bubbles were great, but once again the kids ended up leaving halfway threw parachute time, which ment the parents went with them. Mind you this whole time the teachers voice was terrible to listen to! I am not kidding. You would think if you had to sing at a job they would actually get talented singers or atleast hit the right notes. Okay so then the gymbo song. The kids stared getting anxious to leave at this point, so there were a few break downs. When I was getting ready to walk out of the gym area I was cornered by the teacher and manager to sign up. They said it was 89 a month for only 4 classes a month and some playgym, at late night. Okay so after hearing that that class was 89 a month I left. If I am going to spend that a month I want to really be doing a lot of fun acitivities. Instead I have enrolled her in a gymnastics class where I get to stay along with all of the other parents, they get more excersize, they learn to work together and she just loves it. Also the equipment is fantastic. Super clean, and they have a trampolines, foam pits, beams, and bars, and a smooshy floor so if they fall it wont hurt. Also it isnt over crowded. In the gymboree class there were 15 people plus parents in a small cramped place with small equipment. Here the gym is huge and only 8-10 peaople are allowed in each class. Hope this helps!!!!

My son & I have been going here for 2 years & he loves it! I don't know how anyone would call it boring...it's so much fun & there are new activities every week. Also, we have had different teachers & they have all been wonderful.

I took my son to a birthday party here a few weeks back. We did not have fun at all. We actually had friends leave midway. I have been to three birthday parties here and each time we get the same teacher, and she does the same birthday party over and over and over. I will not have my childs party here ever it would be a complete waste of money. The families that paid for it regret it so much after. Do not have a birthday party here. It is the biggest waste of 200+ for and hour and a half party. Just have your party at home or at another chldrens center like Mygym.
