"the word-of-mouth survival guide for SAN FRANCISCO parents"
Review added 12/28/2007

I have 2 boys and when the first was a toddler I was desperate during winter months for indoor play areas in Marin. I've been to Gymboree 3 times in 5 years: the first time to see why all my 1st mom's group friends were going, the second because we were invited to a birthday there, and the third as a meet and greet for new moms of the Southern Marin Mothers Club. The persistent marketing calls I got after that first visit really put me off but now they're in cahoots with Disney and the beat-you-over-the-head Disney branding in their songs is unbearable. If you want skills training and indoor activities I strongly suggest the other choices out there, especially the activities offered by local recreation departments -- check out San Anselmo's Tumbling with Juan Olsen Sanchez!

Great classes that help develop coordination, learn new songs and help moms meet each other. Better for under 2 years old.

This Gymboree is much bigger than the one in San Francisco. It also has a separate door, so that your children don't wander out onto the street. There is lots of great equipment and they offer free play sessions on Fridays - 2 hrs for $12. It's conveniently located in the Strawberry shopping complex

I enrolled my two year old in a session and when I took him he appeared to be bored. We only went twice and never returned. I thought the cost was rather expensive.

Great place to take your little one for socialisation and group activities, the safe padded play area is great when they start crawling, cruising and learning to walk. The open play sessions are a great facility, my little girl loves her Gymboree class each week.
