Very similar method to crying it out- only the parent is present. More gentle, but wasn't for me.

This book has some good ideas on how to handle sleep issues. None of them worked for daughter who didnt sleep through the night until she was 20 months old. Check it out if you have issues.

This book was a lifesaver for me! My son did not sleep through the night for the first year of his life. Then, I heard about this book and thought I'd give it a shot. I was totally against "Ferberizing" my child and letting him cry it out. After 2 nights of following the "Sleep Lady Shuffle" my 13 month old son finally slept through the night. No crying, no night wakings, no nursing and he slept in his crib in his room. I kept this book to help my daughter learn to fall asleep on her own and she was by 7 months. I've now handed the book down to a friend, who I hope it will help as much as it helped me.
