QuoteIt's impossible to leave Golden Bridge's Prenatal Yoga classes in a sour mood. I feel like this is definitely a place I can shake off the stress and noise of city life and focus on the one simple and life-changing task at hand--a healthy pregnancy and birth. Marne Moore's classes are pleasant and a great ease-in class for those not familiar with yoga, meditation, or chanting, and her expertise as a post-natal nurse at Cedars Sinai comes in handy as she explains positions and techniques, as well as answers any questions students have after class. If I could afford to be at Golden Bridge every day of my pregnancy, I certainly would.

QuoteIf you can just ignore some of the opinions and judgments against the usual hospital birth, then this is a great place to go. Expect to only get an hour of yoga if Garmukh teaches, and just go with the flow and enjoy chatting with your neighbor, and relaxing into a meditation, or chant. She really is great at helping you bond, stretch and strengthen, and just feel all around amazing for being a pregnant woman. It may not be for everyone, but I am really glad I have been going throughout my pregnancy..I know it is good for my body and baby. I just had to try to not crack up at times, or run screaming if there was a lecture about medication, vaccination, or epidurals...I met some other great preggy moms, and loved eating at the cafe afterwards!

QuoteLOVE This place. Gurmukh's classes are wonderful, she's a wealth of knowledge and makes you feel great about being pregnant. The food is great in the Cafe, it's one of the most beautiful atmospheres, the store is great- what can I say? It was my absolute favorite place to be my entire pregnancy.

QuoteThe pre-natal classes are 1.5 hours but you can count on chanting/singing for a half hour of that. The yoga part is very good but if you don't like chanting then you might want to skip the class. Marne is a great teacher and is not preachy so I would recommend her class. However, I get the feeling from other teachers that the class is a form of indoctrination. And I was downright offended when another teacher told a "story" about a mother of a shy & withdrawn child who came in. She described the child as having a "sour look on her face." The mother got a guru while pregnant with her 2nd child and chanted with her guru everyday and this child was happy & outgoing. I felt this comment was meanspirited and was inteneded to pressure us into getting a guru. I agree that relaxation exercises and meditation are probably helpful in the birthing process but to say that that affects the baby's disposition is quite a stretch!
