This place is pretty pricey, but if you go into their backroom you can find some great deals. We got a dresser for less than half what we saw it for at other stores! Staff was helpful polite

First of all, this review is being written by a Dad to be, so as far as I know, I'm not hormonal. My wife and I are concientious (aka, "bargain") shoppers and we do a lot of research before actually buying. We have been to other specialty baby stores, the large chains and have researched the web. We chose to visit Georgia Baby after visiting their website and noting a "special" sale of 45% off the Stanley Young America line of nursery/kids furniture.
Their selection is commendable. However, their pricing is deceptive. The Stanley line is clearly marked with a retail price (that we now know is even higher than MSRP) and then a sign that says, "take 45% off marked prices". Seemed like a very good deal to us and after doing some calculations and online comparisons, we thought we had a great deal. This 45% off even applied to ordered items, so we were further convinced this was a great deal.
We ordered a crib and double dresser at "45% off" and bought a night stand and tall chest floor models at 55% off. We took the latter two items with us. Feeling good about our purchase, we headed the hour and 30 minutes home. Decided to pop into our local (and only) baby specialty store (Rattles and Rhymes) on the way home. This store also carries the Stanley line thatand we had priced it there before. We were thinking, "wow, 45% off of those prices we saw before! Good thing we found Georgia Baby'. Yeah, right. Good thing Georgia Baby found us!
We were suckered into the oldest deceptive pricing scheme in the book. The local store had the same items for almost the exact same price we paid at 45% off! So, the only "deal" we got was about 10% off the floor models and we had a three hour round trip on top of that. In the end, we didn't save a penny and it ended up costing more when figuring in the cost of travel.
In reviewing pricing on their other furniture lines and then with some extensive online research, it appears Georgia Baby marks all of their nursery furniture pricing up 100%, then advertises a "sale" price. Their "sales" prices are no more competitive with any other specialty store, and in many cases, are higher.
I was ready to cancel the ordered items and just buy from the local store. However, their sales order states, "There are NO refunds or cancellations". Hence, this review as the only means to warn other buyers. Buyers, please beware.
One other note, online prices for cribs and other kid furniture are not good indicators of what is a true sales price.

We bought our son's crib and other furniture there as well as his crib bedding. They have a great selection of very high end furniture, bedding and accessories, but it also comes at a very high price. The sales staff was not very helpful when we received an item from their store that was not compatible with our crib that we bought from them at the same time. They would not return or exchange it, it was a very frustrating experience after spending thousands of dollars at their store over a $80 crib moblie.

My husband and I bought a bunk bed set there in Feb. They promised 4-6 wk delivery. I went in today (2 days before the 6 wk time period was up)and they advised me it would be another 6 wks due to manufacturer delay!!! The purpose of us shopping in the beginning of Feb for a baby due at the end of June was to have our 15 month old moved out of the nursery into his "big boy" room without feeling displaced by the baby. When the salesperson kept saying throw a mattres on the floor, that sent me over the edge (and, yes, I may be hormonal but that was not the right answer). Also, when I asked if we could cancel the order she quoted the receipt and said "Georgia Baby not responsible for manuf. delay", which I honestly understand, but they do need to put some concessions in place if you are screwed up by the service. What if I ordered a crib and the baby was due at the beginning of May - do I throw her on the floor with a mattress too?

Good place to look but bad place to buy! Their sales staff was WAY too pushy and their prices were the highest of the baby stores I shopped.
