I grew up going to Frick Park (aka the "Blue Slide Park"), and love taking my daughter there. There are so many different activities to choose from, some of which are toddler-sized, which is nice. There's also a ton of green space for picnicking and strolling.

This is the fabled "blue slide park" in Squirrel Hill. I gave the entrance we use at Beechwood Blvd. but this park is so huge, there are other entrances, as well. At this entrance, you walk up the path, and to your immediate right, there is a wonderful playpark. Included is a special toddler area (all soft surfaces to walk/fall on) with colorful and nicely maintained apparatus to play on. There are bucket and sling swings. There is a huge gym area, with things to climb, several slides, bridges to run accross, and more. Going to the second level, there's another smaller slide, and par-course type equipment for the children. Last, but not least, on the upper level, is the blue slide. Kids will take along cardboard boxes to slide down, to make the ride faster. I've taken my two year old here since birth (first, to walk on the paths in her stroller, then to play as she got older). We'll enjoy this park for years to come.
