"the word-of-mouth survival guide for NORTHRIDGE parents"

I checked this place out during their Open House week. For a modest membership fee, you have access to both kid and parent classes as well as to the large and well-stocked play space. Child classes cover a wide variety of subjects - from movement, to music, to science, to art - for babies from newborn to 4 years and up. The classes are priced separately. They also have a wide variety of parent workshops and family events. Unfortunately, they have no weekend classes, though some of the workshops and events are scheduled for Sundays or after-work hours. Also odd is that there is a short but real flight of stairs and no elevator for strollers; they also share a building with a mental health facility, and there are frequently people smoking in front of the doors.

Families First really does put families first. They make the most of their small but great space with lots of fun things to keep little hands and minds busy. Although my son was happy just opening and closing the little picket fence gate to the play area.
Once a member, they offer arts and crafts, classes and drop-in play time for the kids and also offer workshops for parents and caregivers in CPR, nutrition, separation anxiety and others. A great community/family resource.
