Our family has a love / hate relationship with Esperanza. Our child had a wonderful time at the school. We truly felt she was nurtured and loved by the caretakers and that she made some great baby friends! The Halloween carnival is sooooooooo much fun. On the other hand, we had major concerns that ultimately led to us pulling her from the school. First, a head injury, the explanation for which did not jive with reality. Our pediatrician suggested we were not getting the full story (injury did not match up with explanation). We chose to believe the school over the ped's speculation. Later, at holiday time, the teachers made Christmas lists and displayed them for parents to view. One of my child's teachers listed Crown Royal as one of her wishlist items, and both teachers listed giftcards for $50 and beyond. Huh. I tried to ignore that, but it did make me wonder what type of conversations these "ladies" were having when parents were not around to supervise their behavior. Next, fecal residue. Despite going through a healthy number of wipes, the instructors seemed incapable of wiping all my child's fecal matter from her behind. This would lead to diaper rash and a very upset mommy. After addressing the issue, it was resolved, but I never quite understood why I had to instruct a professional diaper changer on how to change diapers. The last straw was when I discovered food items were not being properly stored. I was disgusted and attempted to resolve the issue with the school. After coming to an acceptable resolution, I was informed that they would go back to the original plan instead. Fine, but stick to the written plan! At this point, I was asked to come in for a parent / teacher conference because the teacher thought I had a problem with her. Um, yes. The problem is you could make my child sick because of your unsafe food practices. Is a conference really necessary? I thought not, and we removed our child that very day.
