While this seems expensive, it's worth every penny. It can be used for a newborn through toddler. It's very comfortable and the baby that I used it for loved it. It's also really easy to wash.

My son & I love the ERGO! He is almost 2 & 36 lbs & hates a stroller. He wants to run everywhere when I let him walk & he is too heavy to carry all the time! This is one of the greatest inventions for Mom & baby ever. The weight is shifted on other spots & not just your back! My son loves to ride on Mommy's back & do the kangaroo hop!

I have bad lower back issues, and all of you that own a baby bjorn know that is not the best carrier out there. The ergo puts all of the baby's weight on your hips, so you are not experiencing the back pain....A friend of mine told me about the ergo carrier and I loved it - and so did my son - from the first time we used it. The only downfall with it is you cant face the child outward, but the nice thing is, he or she stays snug to your body and can cuddle up with you. I used to use it to put him to sleep at night when things were a little shaky on that front. We have even used it on hikes, since you can place the child on your back with it. I would recommend it for first time moms, get the newborn insert and use it all the way through the baby's 3-4th birthday!

I love the Ergo. I purchased it when my daughter was 5 months old. Still use it now and she's 3 yrs (38 lbs). We love the Ergo so much, we are buying another for our second baby due in April. I wouldn't recommend anyone using the front carrier position after your baby hits the 28 lb mark - too hard on the hips. Getting the child on your back takes a little bit of practice but is well worth it (I practiced over our bed when our daughter was 8 months).

Don't bother with the Peanut Shell or the Baby Bjorn. Get the Ergo especially if you have back pain like I do. The baby's weight is more evenly distributed on your body so you don't end up with a sore neck and back. Its ice that it has a hip carrier function too!
