QuoteI called in a multi-vitamin Rx refill to the pharmacy for 1 of my triplets. They had to fax to the MD for approval. Coastal Kids has a $10 fee for Rx approvals (which is fine). I was charged $30 ($10 each). When I received my bill, I called and explained what had happened and requested to have them write off $20 for the inconvenience. When I went in for the triplets 3 year well check, the front office wouldn't let me see Dr. Abelowitz without paying the past due $20. I again explained what happened. They apologized for the mis-communication, but held firm on the $20. I had to load up the kids and go to the ATM to get $20 (which I still feel was not my responsibility). If you've ever been to this office, you know the parking situation and how crazy it is trying to get 3- 3 year olds through to and from your car.

QuoteVery knowledgeable, and the doctors ALWAYS err on the side of caution.

Quote***Update: My son is here! I've been busy being a new mom, but I had to come in and update my review. I was extremely disappointed in the "Care" we received from this office in the days after my son was born. I'm so bummed I fell for the old bait & switch. At his first visit (at 2 wks old) we were given about 14 pages of paperwork to read & sign - I understand the need for ins. information, but couldn't they have asked for that before hand? Like at the NEW MOMMY CONSULT? With a newborn in tow, in an office FULL of sick kids (they were everywhere, as the separate waiting room was full) another mother actually suggested I wait outside since my son was so "New" and there were so many sickies. wTf?! Why would they schedule that way? I can go on and on about the ridiculous practice of charging for rx's and proof of immunization for school records and PHONE CALLS, to the fact that they charge their payments from a card you have on file before you even see a statement?? Absurd. I found a wonderful pediatrician who's front office staff is very knowledgeable... As a new mom I've had to call them on a few occasions and the calls have all been FREE! And they made a point of telling me they do not book the way CK does... It's not rocket science. I also know for a fact that I'm not their only CK refugee. I went into the Newport office two weeks ago for a "New Mommy Consult" ...I'm due in December and wanted to give myself time to meet several pediatricians and find the perfect one. The entire staff, from the girls up front to the Dr. I met with were all very sweet and took time to answer all of my questions, provide me with reading materials and explain their involvement from the moment I give birth. I definitely recommend this practice! Their weekend hours & availibility made my choice that much easier. I'm going with them for sure.

QuoteFriendly staff, fun decor, toys, take home goodies, kind and knowledgeable doctors, same day appointments... I can't say enough good things. This is the third pediatric office we've been to. The others were good, but Coastal Kids is great. As a mother to 1 & 2 year olds, I highly recommend.

QuoteWe started off great. Then one day my daughter got really sick with 103 for a week. After 3 visits and different doctors each time and no answers, we were fed up. Each doctor just kept checking her ears and throat and kept saying, "you know it's maybe just too soon and it will probably just go away." Meanwhile we begged on the fifth day of yet another day of high fever and long periods of crying to get an appointment with her main doctor and they said no because he was leaving on vacation and he didn't have time. In talking to other moms about the situation, I came across 3 other moms who had also left the practice due to poor care and service. Another doctor who knows the main doctor, referred to him as, "a man who thinks he can walk on water." I now found a wonderful doctor who's primary focus is to take care of his patients.
