We travel a long distance for shoes for my child's narrow feet. Kathy is amazing, she knows all the brands and spends lots of time finding a shoe to fit. I have never dealt with anyone else in this store - and wouldn't. We only come for the shoes. Those interested in great toys should check out maukilo.com oompa.com and moolka.com, same toys, no clerks with "attitude".

I am a professional African-American woman and I can tell you from personal experience that I was made to feel very uncomfortable while shopping in this store recently. I was told twice by an old white woman with glasses that merchandise I was looking at was very expensive and probably not what I was looking for. I ended up leaving the store with nothing even though they had something I liked because I felt like I was being looked down on. Maybe it was just an isolated incident but judging from other comments about this store I am betting it was not. I would suggest not shopping there if your wearing old sweatpants and haven't done your make-up.

This store is a fantastic family run business. I have shopped there many times and they have the best merchandise for children in center city philadelphia. Having known the family for some time I find some of the comments hard to believe. The son's family just joined a club where my family are members and I seriously doubt when you can afford a 50K membership fee that you need to dodge bill collectors. His mother rents a lovely summer beach home which probably sets her back about the same. No one should worry about whether this store will be around in the future. I have never been ripped off there and have only had pleasant experiences.

As a former employee I know first hand how the owners disrespect their employees and customers especially if they are not white. We were told to specifically to follow african- american customers around the store whenever they came in. The owner's son Peter would curse at you if you put one of the many bill collectors that called everyday through to his phone. He also would lose it if you reminded a good customer they had a store credit because they would rather just rip them off. I gathered while I was there that this had been their policy for years. His mother Linda would do the same thing. There are so many other ways to get the same merchandise they sell for prices that are way more resonable and I would not recommend giving them a nickel. Somebody should really investigate this place and put them out of business but I'm sure the brains of the family Peter son will beat them to it.

I worked there for more than I should have ( I wasn't fired, I quit because I just couldn't take the abuse any more.) Linda Berman is the most horrible woman I've ever experienced in my life. She would constantly bad-mouth other employees to me, make other employees cry and put them down in front of customers. Also, she tells us to spend more time with the customers more likely to spend the most money, and if she doesn't like the way you look, good luck getting any proper service. She's extremely unprofessional. She literally goes through about 5-7 sales girls a month.
p.s. the bathroom downstairs works perfectly. it's not broken, she just doesn't want "dirty little kids" to use it.
