I also used this service, but over the phone. They helped me find a grant from my city to help me pay for childcare. There is an application sent, and there is not always grant/charity money available, I just got lucky. It's not a lot of money, but it definately helped!

This is a non-profit that does great community work and is a welcome resource but is really not all that helpful for nailing down the right provider. Having just moved to Seattle from California, this database was little more than a place to start. If you want to use the online service, it generally costs $40 and you get essentially a current list of licensed providers. The search function was OK, but it could be much better... why not offer a radius search off an address? Whoever designed the interface wasn't really trying for a slick, user-friendly design. I'd rate it as "utilitarian". Lastly, as has been previously mentioned, you don't get recommendations, information on compliants filed against providers, or even up to date pricing of availability. YThere is an area where providers can add comments about thier service, environment, etc. but many don't which leaves you little to go on but a phone number and location. You basically have to think of it as essentially a searchable phone book.

This was a great resource for daycare listings all in one place. It is much more reliable than a phonebook or internet search. However, it costs a lot for what you get. You do not get any kind of ratings for the daycares.

We are so lucky to have this amazing resource in our community. I found the best childcare right in my neighborhood with the childcare referral database, which is very complete! And the resource specialists are so helpful. Not to mention this is a nonprofit that does some amazing work in our community to improve childcare, create careers in childcare, support childcare providers, and increase the quality of care for all kids.
