My baby was airlifted to this hospital and in the NICU for a week. The staff was exceptional! They were so sweet and helpful! I would gladly go back to this hospital.

I had the worst experience at that hospital. The nursing staff there were rude and treated me like I was ignorant. I walked into the hospital in labor and although I was only 2 centimeters dilated, it was true labor. I asked for some pain meds and to alert my doctor that I was there. They immediately told me they were calling my doctor and may have to send me home with an ambien (sleeping pill.) I had already lost my plug and the contractions were getting worse. I was so scared. They weren't taking me serious, this wasn't my first pregnancy. I told the nurses that I wasn't leaving so they made me walk up and down the hallway for an hour. After about 5 min my contractions were down to 2-3min apart. My husband went back to the nurse station and told them about it, they quickly let him know that I still had another 45 min to walk. I was terrified I'd have my baby in the hallway. I painfully, walked back to the nurse's station and asked to see a doctor immediately. After about 10 min, the doctor said it was almost too late for the epidural. They rushed me to the delivery room. They woke up the anesthesiologist and while still rubbing his eyes, he began to administer the epidural. He missed his spot so he tried again, this time jabbing a nerve that sent a horrible pain through the left side of my body, after yelling at me to sit still, he tried again. Finally, I was starting to feel better but a little too numb, my face and tongue were so numb I was having a hard time talking.
After delivering baby, I thought I was going to be okay but that's where things just got worse. I started experiencing the epidural headache. I mentioned this to the nurse every time she asked and she just handed me more pain meds. When the doctor came in to examine me before my discharge, I also complained to him about the severe headache and he said it was due to the trauma of having a baby. When I finally checked in with my doctor a few days later, they sent me to the ER of Chandler Regional hospital. In the ER they administered morphine and caffeine into my IV. I was back in a few days later as that only temporarily relieved my symptoms. This time they preformed a blood patch. Pretty painful procedure. It didn't work. The headache was about 20x worse. My shoulders, neck and head were stiff in severe pain. I went back to the ER and again, they gave me more morphine and caffeine. I had to return a few days later bc the pain was so severe I felt like I was dying. They inserted an IV and the catheter hurt really bad, it was almost burning. I told the nurse and she brushed me off saying it's normal. After all of those needles, IVs, and epidural you'd think I'd be aware if something was wrong. My mom was with me and stopped a doctor to examine the needle. He pulled out the catheter and it was bent in three different locations it wasn't even in my vein. That could have been disastrous. After the whole ordeal, I spent a month lying flat on my back, my two yr old son had a difficult transition of a new baby into his life, I wasn't able to nurse or enjoy that first month of my daughter life, and spent over a month in rehab trying to relearn how to move my shoulders, neck and head again. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.

The hospital is under construction, they are so overbooked that scheduled inductions are more than 4 days overdue, and it is nearly impossible to schedule any of the maternity classes less than 3 months ahead of time. I moved here from Cleveland where the Health Care industry is top notch...this is ridiculas!
