"the word-of-mouth survival guide for HAYWARD parents"

I had an amazing birth at the Cambridge Birth Center. It is a beautiful old house, and the rooms are like giving birth at a B&B. All of the midwives were very warm and caring, and really respectful of any way you choose to have things done during your labor. The closest thing you can get to a home birth in MA and still have your insurance cover it since it is all billed through the Cambridge Hospital.

I don't think expecting/new mothers will find a more supportive or nurturing environment than this birth center. My care was phenomenal. Having worked professionally int he field of maternal and child health as a researcher and educator, it was important to me to find prenatal care that was as non-invasive as possible to my baby. I wanted a very natural pregnancy and child birth, and this center gave me just that. The 2 doulas assigned to me were very attentive. My midwife always explained each procedure or test and specifically asked for my informed decision about carrying each through. While my waterbirth never happened (my labor was only an hour and a half sp I got there just in tie to push!) the midwives never missed a beat and gave me and my little one excellent post-natal care.

cannot say enough good things about the people at the birth center. everyone is wonderful, thoughtful and so caring. they provide a doula while and after you give birth, and access to a lactation consultant.
