Even if you don't end up with natural birth, these classes are great to teach you about what you are feeling and why. More importantly, they teach your coach (husband) about the process too. If something goes wrong, you know what it is, and you know your options. Makes the whole thing less scary. This class is long because of all the info you learn All the nurses in the hospital were thrilled that we were having a Bradley Birth. The focus is on a healthy mom and a healthy baby. That starts with unmedicated, but sometimes medication is required for the baby's best chances- my class understood that, and did not look down on anyone in the small class (2-3 couples) that needed medication or a c-section.

I honestly believe that my son's natural birth was successful primarily due to the education I received in my Bradley classes. They're 12 weeks long, and much more comprehensive than standard hospital-based programs. Their focus is on parent education, so that you are an active participant in your birth and making informed decisons. For me that was absolutely true - I felt in control of everything that happened, understood the "why" of what was happening, and was able to make decisions knowing the risks/benefits for myself. I highly recommend these classes.
