Gilroy Gardens (previously Bonfante Gardens) is a great place to take young children, or just to stroll around as adults. The rides are great, and the gardens are beautiful and fun to look at. The only issue is the cost of the tickets, which are already expensive, and go up in price fairly regularly since the park opened.

It seems a little pricey to me for a day trip with a toddler but they do offer the Lotsa pass which will get you in all season and that is well worth it. I love that they have lots of rides for little kids that they can ride on their own and they have a lot of great educational activities.

My husband loves plants, so this was the perfect place to take our family. He spent hours checking out all that grows there, while there was plenty to entertain the kids (two years and under). We saw other preschool age kids there having a ball. It was also nice that it was a family crowd (and not loitering teenagers like at Great America). Another plus was that the changing station was a large area, just outside the bathrooms (but not in), and had it's own sink & towels & trash.

last time i went, it was not filled with that many rides. it was a rip off to me. my family somewhat did not enjoy it.
