I need to choose a preschool for my child in the next month.  I am not sure what to look for or how to go about it.  I am open to all suggestions and would like to hear about your experience!

thanks!

I am personally very partial to the Montessori method.  I attended Montessori school as a child and feel it really helps kids learn to be self-motivated and develop a passion for learning.  If you decide you like the Montessori method, be careful when choosing a school.  A lot of preschools throw around the term "Montessori" when they really don't follow the guidelines.  There's more info on the International Montessori Index website: http://www.montessori.edu/refs.html

what area are you looking to enroll in DC, MD, or VA?  my children attend montessori school. they both have been going since they were 3 years old and they are now 12 & 7.  The attend a montessori school in Oxon Hill Maryland.  It is under the public school system but it teaches strickly using the Marie Montessori's methods of learning. The good thing is that since is it public school I don't have to pay the private school tutition fees but they still get the montessori experience (smaller classes, more independent learning at their own paste).  The school goes from age 3 (Pre-K 3) through 8th grade.
