Hi parents!

Parents magazine listed signing with your baby as one of "50 Easy Ways to be a Fantastic Parent" (December '08).

Signing with your baby or toddler helps them tell you how they feel and what they need before they have the words to tell you. Research has demonstrated that signing reduces frustrations for babies, helps them connect with their parents and caregivers, boosts baby's self confidence and makes learning to talk easier.

Learn signs, strategies, tips and activities to help reinforce your baby's development in this fun and interactive class with a speech therapist. Parents learn over 50 signs across six weeks with themes chosen especially for your growing baby; Meal-time, Bed-time, Bath-time, Getting dressed, Pets, and Park. Babies are introduced to signs through songs, Bee-Bo the signing bear, games, parachute play and books.

A new session is forming and begins on Thursday, May 21st.  Sign up by this Saturday, May 9th for a 10% discount. For additional information, please visit http://www.babysignsprogram.com/bywendyauffant/ or email wendysigns@gmail.com

Thanks and hope to meet you at our next class!

Want to take a look at some research which supports the use of gestures and "Baby Signs"?  The University of Chicago published a study earlier this year which looked at the amount of gestures 14 month olds use and how it relates to larger vocabularies at 54 months of age (with vocabulary as a predictor of school success).
