Freezing Tips

I bought some great ice cube trays with lids at Bed, Bath & Beyond. The cubes hold about 3/4 oz of puree, and the lids make them super easy to stack.

I also use regular ice trays and cover with Glad Press n Seal.  I find that standard ice cube trays hold about 1 oz.

After the cube are solid, I store them in regular zip top freezer bags.  You can use a straw to suck out the excess air. I only make a few days worth of cubes at a time, so freezer burn isn't really an issue.

I am trying to think of foods that Kiley can eat on her own. She is already using her spoon to try and feed herslef. She is 7 months, and already eating the zwayback cookies and toast by herself. I was thinking of trying cut up fruit, but am worried about choaking. Can anyone suggest some sefl feeding starter food that would be good?

Have you tried diced bananas or peaches?  I found that these, when ripe, are VERY soft and I did not worry about choking at all.  Although Ethan could always handle a lot of texture very early.

Another idea could be mashed sweet potatoes or regular potatoes.  If you are ok with a mess, make them really thick and let Kiley try picking up globs of potatoes.  Ok, that sounds kinda gross, but it worked for us :)
