Topic: What freezes and what doesn't?

Many of your favorite recipes will freeze with modifications. Here's a short list of a few foods that don't freeze well; if your recipes include any of these ingredients, you may need to add them after freezing.

  • Rice (gets mushy)
  • Potatoes (get mushy and grainy)
  • Pasta (doesn't stay "al-dente")
  • Cream sauces (separate when defrosted)
  • Fried foods (don't stay crispy)
Many recipes containing these ingredients can be prepared without, then frozen. The missing ingredients can be prepared on serving day and mixed in after defrosting.
