I have been CPR/First Aid certified for 13 years, renewed every 2 years and infant CPR certified last year with a renewal just this past week. College educated, practice infant massage (licensed MT), baby/toddler yoga and sign language with our daughter and would be happy to do this with your child as well. My husband works from home often and comes from a large, happy family, has lots of experience with and absolutely loves children. We haven't met a child he couldn't win over. We practice attachment parenting / parenting from the heart, and never raise our voices at or punish a baby. We believe in the notion that babies cannot be spoiled! We would like to lavish lots of love on your precious little ones just as you would. We have been background checked and fingerprinted. Right now I provide care for one family a few days a week, and our childcare license is pending. We love caring for children, helping them develop though face to face interaction and play. I enjoy being a home-maker, focusing on making happiness, cleanliness, creativity, and fun the order of the day. My husband is a gourmet in the kitchen and I have learned a lot from him. I have independently studied nutrition and holistic health/wellness and take pride in providing organic, delicious, nutritious meals and snacks that children love and thrive upon. We are positive, peaceful, energetic and healthy people. We love music in this house, sing and dance a lot, play hand drums, practice silly yoga together and go for walks. We love to play with and read to babies, have a lovely collection of children's books, wooden blocks, play-silks and imagination-play toys. The plastic toys we have in this home are very minimal - no lead paint from China here! Hormone-disrupting plastics are unwelcome, especially in toys that may go in the mouth! The only TV we show the children is the award-winning Signing Time DVDs that we sing along with and practice to - 30-45 minutes/day maximum (your child will NEVER be left alone for hours in front of a TV, that's a promise!). This engaging series has won more than 8 national awards - including a Telly Award, a Notable award from the American Library Association, the Dove Foundation Seal of Approval, and All Star Ratings from Kids First - just to name a few! We can also provide regular online and multimedia text photos of your child, no charge, to help you see them during their day and document their growth. We have a smoke-free, pet-free home (2 cats on balcony that do not come indoors) in downtown Little Italy, conveniently located two blocks off of the 5. We attempt to have as clean of a home as possible, practice non-toxic home care (no dangerous chemicals used) with a HEPA vacuum (almost daily) a U/V air purifier when windows are closed, and Wellness water filters for drinking, cooking and showering. The balcony has a baby gate and double chain locks out of child reach. The nursery is used for play and naps, and we have a baby monitor on all the time. Please provide formula/pumped milk ready to go in bottles and diapers for infants / children not yet potty-trained. I will help with potty training - my daughter is almost trained, herself. We can provide babysitting and character references for people who have known us for most of our lives. We do not smoke or do drugs of any kind, and occasionally are light social drinkers (not me currently as I am still breastfeeding) but never when the children are around. We are very healthy, eat mostly organic, and use natural body and home care. We have rid the house of the top ten chemicals to avoid, do not have a microwave by choice and are in the middle of getting rid of as much plastic from our lives as possible. I sanitize toys that go in the mouths of babes using a nursery sanitizer (dry heat), never with bleach or Lysol! Positive energy is of high importance to us and we smudge (clear by burning sage sticks) our condo on a regular basis. We have two very large geodes and several crystals around the home to facilitate the well-being of the occupants. If you are concerned about security, we live in a newer, safe and secure building in a safe part of town with 24hr surveillance. Why drop off your child in regular daycare to be exposed to tons of other children (along with the germs and chemicals), and not get the quality, individual care they deserve?
