"the word-of-mouth survival guide for SAN FRANCISCO parents"
Recently we were at the doctor's office because my daughter had a cold. I pulled out a juice box since she had just woken up an not had a chance to have breakfast. I asked my doctor if it would be alright if I gave her a juice box (sometimes they don't want you to give your child any food/drink in case they need to run tests). He glared at me and said water would be better, but if I was going to give her juice it would be alright... He then said "Juice is terrible for kids. First of all her teeth are going to fall out and second of all it's detrimental to her body." I am a realatively healthy person and I know that too much sugar is not good for anyone. So in a way I was glad he jumped on our cases for giving her juice. On the other hand, she been so stubborn when it comes to drinking anything. She didn't like milk as a baby and still doesn't. I've tried soy...no luck there. She's not even that big of a fan of chocolate milk. The only thing she really likes to drink is apple juice. We've been pushing water like crazy and she's been drinking more of it, but she still gets one to two small juice boxes a day. I'd love it if I could get her down to one juice box a couple of times a week. Am I being to hard on myself and her? What's a realistic expectation when it comes to kids and juice??? How do I get my child to drink more water? Minneapolis- Stores, Restaurants, Services, Products, Activities, Events
