hi,

i need help with my son he is 2 he will be 3 on october 1 and i want to have him day trained by his birthday. the reason i need to have him trained so soon is because i can't afford to by pullups every week.

he loves the tiolet and wants to sit on it but he won't go in the tiolet, all he does is sits on it for a lttle bit then gets up and pees in his diaper. i have to sit him on the big tiolet because his bum won't fit on any potty i have bought for him.

i know he is not scared of the toilet but what can i do to get him to go in the tiolet?

can somebody please help me.

thank you in advance

Do not use pull-ups.  They are the devil :) My son was doing the same thing, but once I switched him to big boy underwear, he started to go pee on the potty.  He did not like to feel wet, and in pull ups they do not really ever feel wet.  Thus, there will be some accidents in the beginning, but nothing that cannot be cleaned up.  Within 2 weeks he should be trained, if he is truly ready for potty training.  However, you will need to use pull ups at night (or diapers) until he can recognize the sensation when sleeping (or use plastic on the sheets).  Also, walmart sells juvenile seats/family seats, which is where there are two seats built in (one for adult and one for child).  You may want to get one of those because if your son falls in the toilet, he may become traumatized and refuse to use the potty.  Or you can buy this potty seat from one step ahead, http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=442794&cmSource=Search it has a step built-in, which makes it easier for the child to get up on the potty and for placing feet on when bearing down for bowel movements.

Good luck, and just keep in mind that every child is different.  You can also try a reward program (go to the dollar store and pickup little items and wrap them and place them in an area where your son will see them, and tell him that if he uses the potty he gets a present).  Also, when he is sitting on the potty, turn the water on, it really does trigger a urination response.  Also, if it is warm out, take him to pee outside.  It works great.  Another potty option, is the urinal, http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=520757&cmSource=Search.  My son loved it.

 Again, good luck.
