I'm having a baby in October and planning to go back to work in March. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nanny, baby sitter, or other child care options in or near Forest Hills, Queens? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Contact Merivs Jenkins at dwjkk@yahoo.com.  She is terrific and is looking for a position. References are available.

You can try Tami's Agency in Forest Hills.  Also try Craigs List.  This is where I found my nanny and she worked out great.  We also live in the Forest Hills area.

Hi Forest Hills Moms,

I thought you might be interested in this:

Hosting an au pair is a great, affordable childcare solution! Your children will experience another culture, maybe learn a new language and you will have the peace of mind that they are in trusted, qualified care. You don't have to worry about taking them to a daycare center or waiting for the babysitter to show up. Instead you will have flexibility in your childcare hours!

Cultural Care Au Pair has been placing qualified au pairs from over 40 countries with families in the United States for over 15 years. Au Pairs provide affordable live-in childcare, working up to 10 hours/day (max. 45 hrs/week) in exchange for room, board and a weekly stipend of $176.85. The cost is the same whether you have one child or several children. All Cultural Care au pairs are carefully screened and eager to share their culture while learning about life in the U.S. Before their arrival at your home, Cultural Care Au Pair provides a four-day training program at St.John's University in Long Island, NY, where they will learn more about first aid, household safety, emergency procedures and childhood illnesses.

Au Pairs:

- are carefully screened and have verified references
- are between the ages of 18-26
- speak proficient English
- can drive
- help your children with their homework and take them to after-school activities
- will take care of your childrens' laundry
- provide light housekeeping and meals for the children
- stay for 12 months with the option to extend for another 12 months

Cultural Care's placement managers will personally match your family with an au pair regarding your matching criterias. We want to make sure you find the right au pair that will match your families' needs.

To find out more about the program, please go to: www.culturalcare.com or feel free to contact me, if you have any questions or would like to get some further information about our program. You can reach me at 347-210-0292 or send me an email at jessica.fleischer@lcc.culturalcare.com

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Have you tried any online services? I use Care.com and have had great luck with it. Imho, the overall quality of sitters on the site is about average. They do free background checks (in addition I also check references and interview all candidates in person), which is great for peace of mind. I think they're still running a promotion now; if you use the code CLUBMOM you can get a discount off the joining fee. Good luck-- finding good childcare is stressful!  :)
