Is this the best place to start out on this site? I'm fairly new to the area and mom networking and info sites.

 Welcome! This is a great place to start. The message boards are designed so that moms can easily ask questions, share information, or just chat about and issues with parenting, balancing life, etc. Another great area is the Groups section. You may join a group that is relevant to your location, topics you are interested in, or even activities you enjoy with your kids (Stroller Stride moms is a great one!).  If you don't find a group that interests you or suits your needs feel free to start you own. You may then post messages to the group, invite others through the "find parents" tab, or organize group activities.

I'm a big fan of the Events section. I'm always looking for new and exciting things to do with my kids. Moms know best and this a mom/parent-driven site. If you know of a child friendly or family event you may even post one to the calendar for others to view. Finally, reviews are what drove me to the site over a year ago. I love hearing what other moms/parents think of places and services for kids. It's so helpful when you really want that inside information (when a store is having the best sales, or if a park has easily accessible bathrooms and ample parking spaces, etc.). You can help others out by posting reviews of you favorite places and services as well. Since you said you were new to the area, this section could be a great help to you when it comes to finding a pediatrician, a good kid's birthday place, and so on.
