My son is almost 19 months and still drinks his milk from a bottle! The opediatrician told me he should not be doing this. He does drink from a sippy cup, but only juice and water. He has to have his milk in a bottle, or else he will not drink any of it-very particular I suppose. Im afraid he wont be getting enough calcium if he doesnt drink any milk. I do give him calcium fortified orange juice, yogurt, cheese, and fortified pasta, but I dont know if thats enough if he doesnt drink milk. I always end up giving in and pouring the milk from the sippy into the bottle.

Whats going on with him and any suggestions on how to get him to drink his milk from the sippy? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I wouldn't rush him.  I would keep offering him his sippy cup, but if he doesn't want it in there, then give him the bottle.  I would imagine that he will eventually give in to you especially if you don't stress about it.  It isn't going to hurt him to take only his milk out of a bottle for a few more months.  Once he's a little older if he still won't give it up, then not having that milk won't hurt him.

Hi

Believe me I knwo what you are going through, just do not give up.  My son who is 27 months still drinks from bottles and I have tried every kind of sippy cup on the market. It may be a comfort issue for him.  Try and wait it out a coupld of more months and then start worrying.
