Hey there: I am looking for a daycare facility in or near Downtown Chicago/ Wicker Park/ Lincoln Park -- Any recommendations? (We're looking for a non-sterile, loving environment, good for a 3-month old...). ... And failing us finding a good daycare facility, we will likely go the nanny-route. We're planning on posting on Craig's List... Any other places to look for a good nanny? & What is the going rate for full-time nannies @ the moment? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

you can also try joining the northside parents network - www.npnparents.org - they usually have nanny/daycare postings on there & it is an excellent resource for getting parents' reviews on different daycares in the city.  i know a few moms who were able to work out nanny-shares through meeting other parents on the npn website.

right now we have our daughter at honey tree located downtown at clark & lake.  we love the infant room but have heard some not so great things about the toddler room (via northside parents network) - still investigating that b/c obviously our daughter will need to transition.  so, you might want to try there.  also, downtown children's learning center is opening a new location in bucktown (wabansia & milwaukee) - i just spoke with the director of the school & they plan on opening the new location in september/october 2008.  so, you might want to give them a call & put your name on the waitlist.  another place you might want to take a look at is the west loop montessori school.  our friends' daughter goes there & it seems like a great facility.  good luck!
