I have a four month old girl who I am currently breastfeeding exclusively. She has a milk protein allergy and soy allergy as well as a moderate reflux. We have tried zantac and now prilosec with minimal success on minimizing the reflux. Does anyone have advice on holistic and or traditional medications to help relux? Also any suggestions regarding experience with allergies...This is my first time and It can be challenging with my diet. As an aside....my daughters weigh gain is not an issue....18 lbs at 4 mos....she is certainly growing ...thanks for any suggestions in advance...

I was at Children's Hospital in Boston yesterday where my 18 mo old was diagnosed with a peanut allergy. There are so any resources for moms regarding allergy issues! I had no idea how common it is. Here are a few websites they suggested for support: http://www.foodallergy.org (The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network) www.aafa.org (Asthema and Allergy Foundation of America) http://www.apfed.org (American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders) The list goes on and on! Hope these help both of us! Good luck!

Hi there

I had the same problem when i was nursing my now 22 month old when she was about 5 weeks....they concluded that she had a rare allergic reaction to the milk protein in my breast milk...It does not happen often but not that un heard of...I did everything including taking milk and all milk products out of my diet...we had tried zantac with no relief...they had me pump my milk for a few weeks and save it as i fed her nutramagin formula by enfamil...this was a life saver....she was so miserable before the formula and as much as i wanted to give my second baby the same 5 months of breastfeeding i gave my first baby, I knew i had to do what was best for her and after a few weeks of crying over me not being able to breast feed her I got over it and now she is a happy healthy almost 2 year old  Best of luck to you and do not give up you will find the right solution and know that it is best for baby  So i do not have any suggestions for you but just know that you are not alone that many babies go through this.   Listen and trust your pedi doc...that is what in the end help me the best...
