What time do you put your children to bed? We have a 19 mos. old and a 4 year old and I don't think they get enough sleep. We can't seem to get them down until 9pm and they wake at 7am (and usually once at night; UGH!)

Hello:)  Me personally, I have three boys...an eight year old, four year old, and 19 mth. old.  The 19 mth old goes down between 8:00 and 8:30 every night (except weekends sometimes)...and he usually sleeps throughout the night...I wake him up between 6:30 & 6:45 AM.  My other two have to be in bed between 9:00 and 9:30 (I push more towards 9:00)....and then they get to stay up later on weekends.  All of my kiddo's sleep really well though.  Maybe try getting them down even an hour or half hour earlier and see how that helps.

I agree that maybe trying to put them to bed a bit earlier each night. Don't give them anything sweet or with a lot of dairy before bed - it tends to mess with the kids sleep cycles.

good luck,

Kim

My 2 1/2 & 4 year old go to bed between 7 and 7:30pm.  You really have to plan well to get them down then.  It's not always pleasant, but it's so important that kids get their sleep: for learning, for nutrition, for brain development, etc.

Try getting them to bed 15 minutes earlier each night, until it's at the time you want.

Good luck!
